February 18, 2021Tri This: S1E5 - Training In an Apocalyptic StormIn this episode of Tri This, Kirstin reflects on the recent ice apocalypse storm that hit Oregon over the past weekend, which left hundreds of thousands of homes without power. It's all about perseverance this training year! Kirstin also has some good news: pools are opening back up after months of closures. And she unpacks the topic of building tissue resilience to help reduce your chances of injury. If you've ever been in a position of trying to get back into running or training and doing a little too much than you should have, or if you are new to the sport and want to make sure you reduce your risk of injury, building up tissue resiliency is how you do it. Kirstin also challenges the most often used training blocks and periodization and suggests a different way to fit training to work with women's cycles and physiology.Host: Dr. Kirstin Lauritzen20 mins. For complete shows notes and more information, links and resources as well as other conversations from the world of women’s sport including articles, blogs, videos and podcasts visit wispsports.com.
