今天我想聊一个近年来经常被讨论的话题，那就是中国年轻人为什么越来越不愿意结婚生孩子了？大家可能都听说过日本的少子化，但是其实中国的情况可能更严重。

根据数据，2024 年中国的结婚人数只有大约 610 万对，比前一年下降了 20%。同时，中国的总和生育率大概只有 1.0，远低于维持人口更替需要的 2.1。这说明年轻人不仅不想结婚，也越来越不愿意生孩子了。

那为什么会这样呢？普遍认为有四个原因。

第一个原因是经济压力。

在中国有男方买婚房的传统，没有房子就很难结婚。而中国的房价虽然这两年降了一些，但对很多普通工薪阶层来说还是很高。结婚往往意味着背上几十年的房贷，要是再生孩子还要承担抚养和教育的额外负担。除了基本生活开销，还有孩子的补习班、兴趣班的费用，很多年轻人觉得养活自己都不容易，更别说养孩子了。

第二个原因是职场环境。

大家可能听过中国的 996，就是早上 9 点上班，晚上 9 点下班，一周工作 6 天。即使不是严格的 996，很多行业也有加班严重、竞争激烈的问题。年轻人下班已经很累了，回家只想躺平，根本没有精力再去考虑婚姻和孩子。再加上最近经济不太好，很多人对未来没有安全感，更不敢轻易结婚、生孩子。

第三个原因是观念的变化。

像我父母那一代，会觉得结婚生子是理所当然的事，好像没想过不结婚或者不生孩子也是一个选项。但现在很多年轻人觉得婚姻只是人生选择之一，即使结婚也不一定非要孩子。很多人更喜欢一个人生活，觉得自由，而且没有孩子的生活质量更高。尤其是女性，随着受教育程度提高、收入增加，有了更多的自主权，也不愿意随便进入婚姻。

第四个原因是社会支持不足。

在一些发达国家，政府会提供比较完善的社会服务，来帮助年轻家庭分担育儿的压力。中国虽然这些年也在增加一些支持，但是总体来说还远远不够。大多数家庭，夫妻都要上班，孩子需要爷爷奶奶、姥姥姥爷帮忙带。结婚早、孩子生得早的话，父母还能帮一帮，可是现在结婚越来越晚，老人年纪大了也需要帮助。这样一来，年轻人既要养孩子，又要照顾父母，压力特别大，所以更不考虑结婚生子了。

所以，不结婚、不生孩子，并不是中国年轻人随便的个人决定，而是中国经济、社会、观念等多方面因素一起造成的。我觉得不仅是中国，全世界年轻人其实现在都不容易，工作不好找，大环境又不稳定，所以大家对结婚生子都更谨慎了。

In this episode, I share a personal story: I just signed up for the JLPT N3 this December. It made me reflect—why do we take language exams? How can they motivate us, and what are their limitations?
