Xtreme Performance Outdoor Network

Joe takes us down the road back to the good ol days where a kennel club called United Coon Hunters Association (UCHA) was in the heights of the competitive world of competition money hunts. This is an awesome story of a coon hunter's journey where only 1 in a handful of coon hunters has achieved the bragging rights of being a back to back owner and handler of a world champion coon dog.

The show takes a sharp tragic twist as Joe shares in 2016 that he was hit hard with this world coming at him in full force.  Being faced with dealing with what every parent/grandparent fears in the murder of his precious granddaughter. Only through the strength of Gods grace and his mothers prayer did Joe get through this time in his life.

While at Lance Christensen's, I was also able to get a recording in with accomplished falconer and veterinarian Ross Dirks. I'm glad he was there helping Lance to prep birds for shipping to their new owners, because this conversation was a blast to have! We talked about some of his different experiences as a veterinarian, flying falcons and goshawks, and lots of other great stuff before I headed back down to record more with Ian Anderson and other friends last July. It was another whirlwind weekend, but so glad I did it so I could share these conversations with you all! Enjoy!

Hunters need the most effective representation and support we can find. Safari Club International is a GIANT with a strong track record of supporting hunters and particularly Houndsmen. With staff attorneys, state chapters, strong international presence, lobbyists, and a successful history of winning on hunting issues, SCI should be supported by all Houndsmen.

In this episode of the Houndsman XP Podcast, Chris Tymeson is here to talk straight about SCI and its functions. Chris and Chris talk about effective legal action, updates about ongoing litigation, legislation we should be paying attention to and WOLVES. All of the threats that we, as Houndsmen face, SCI is willing to take them on.

Seth Hall joins Chris in this continued discussion about fair chase, the importance of defining who we are as houndsmen and being able to rise to the occasion when challenged.

In this episode listeners will pick up talking points to talk about:

• Why we hunt
• Why hunting with hounds is relevant
• Why hunting with sight hounds is a noble pursuit
• Why houndsmen must equip themselves for the hard conversations
• Why we can’t allow non houndsmen to define who we are

This is a deep dive into something very important.

The Beagle Queen, Becky Dwire gives an insightful and in depth tutorial on the the importance of socializing puppies early and often. While most folks may think that socializing means taking your dog to Rural King and dog parks, Becky lays it out there and talks about what an Xtreme Performance working dog needs.

Becky talks about stimulation, over stimulating and how to have well mannered dogs that are a pleasure to hunt and be around. She explains how a dog learns and why early socialization is so important to getting years of great service and dogs that can flat out hunt.

After getting a lure machine from Jeremiah, we started talking more back and forth about falconry, dachshunds, bowfishing, and other good stuff. Those conversations led to being able to meet up with him at a dachshund field trial close to where he lives in Pennsylvania, and while there, I managed to get my equipment set up outside long enough to record an episode and pick up where we left off! Overall, it turned out pretty well for a little bit of wind blowing, beagles barking in the background, and other audio challenges, but I hope you enjoy regardless! If you're interested in going on a bowfishing trip, picking up a lure machine yourself, or want some cool merch from Jeremiah, head to boondockoutdoors.myshopify.com!
