In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the news breaking today the Zach Fucale will sign with KHL's Traktor Chelyabinsk. "He's a qualified goaltender who has long been considering the possibility of continuing his career in the AHL," Volkov said. "Here, he wants to find a new motivation for himself to improve his level of play." Fucale was passed up by Hunter Shepard on the depth chart and wants to work on his game. Both goalies are UFA's at the end of the season

Later Dan talks about the latest with Nick Backstrom. Nick had a hip resurfacing procedure done and the outlook at the time wasn't the greatest. GM Brian Maclellan wasn't feeling to confident about Nick in April. "That's a major surgery," MacLellan said back in April. "I think it's frustrating in that I don't know how much better does it get? I haven't seen any other players do it, recover and get back to the level they thought they were at before. I don't know where that ends up with the offseason training. He's going to have to make a decision on his career where he thinks he's at." Nick has seen an improvement and GM Maclellan is more hopeful

In the last segment Dan talks about the status or Rasmus Sandin who was injured at the IIHF World Championship. When there was knee on knee contact with Mikey Eyssimont. Mac said that Sandin's condition is not serious
