In conversation with Laura, Ros unpacks art prizes, why to consider it and what is involved in the entry process. She shares her journey to date and how a single art prize and her finalist position opened up opportunities.

Laura shares that art prizes are a chance to learn and grow, reflect, learn who you are as an artist and gain clarity around what you want to communicate to the world through your work. Art prizes provide artists with direction, something to work towards, a goal, something to share on socials, community and they help to add structure to your year.

There is more to art prizes than winning.

Ros and Laura chat about the mindset element of the art prize entry process and share how common it is to feel rejection and disappointment when unsuccessful in an art prize application.
