On today’s podcast, Colin Hurd joins us as we discuss autonomous technology innovations and how a college project turned into a mission to find solutions that solve some of today’s challenges in agriculture. Listen in as we talk about situational awareness and not just the function of autonomy but the data that can be generated to improve our decision making in the field. And we explore how this technology can impact our soil health principles, practices and help with their implementation.
Colin has devoted his career to bringing innovative solutions to the agriculture industry. Out of college, he invented a product and founded a company to reduce soil compaction called TrackTill. After commercializing the product and licensing it to Yetter Manufacturing he founded Smart Ag.
Smart Ag developed the first aftermarket driverless system to automate tractors. After funding and growing the company, he successfully completed an acquisition to Raven Industies (NYSE:RAVN) in 2019 and stayed on as a Business Development Manager for Raven Autonomy.
Raven Autonomy is taking on and solving the big challenges farms face by developing and delivering cutting edge driverless technology to the agriculture industry. Colin also serves as a Co-director for the Ag Startup Engine and a Board Member for Jackrabbit Equipment.
