Dave talks about his development under athletics coach Tom Kelly, before his recruitment to North Arizona University and exposure to different training styles. Dave talks about his highlights in the NCAA competing with and against the likes of Lopez Lomong and Galen Rupp, and then the challenges involved with his post collegiate running from finding his identity and life balance outside of running. Brad asks Dave about his columns of wisdom for Runners Tribe that draw on his personal experiences, the people who influences his mental state before talking about his venture into coaching for boundary umpires and other extracurricular activities as well as the relationship between his nutrition, energy intake and injury incidence.
