Oxford's 2024 word of the year is "brain rot" (which appears, to us at least, to be two words). What does it mean? "The deterioration of a person’s mental or intellectual state, especially viewed as the result of overconsumption of material (now particularly online content)." It is a common symptom of living in an age where so much of our consumption takes place in the frenzied, distracted, and noisy digital world.
