Dr. Keira Barr blends science with soul as a dual board-certified integrative dermatologist, somatic stress release practitioner and breathwork guide, empowering women around the world with the tools needed to help them gain the control, clarity and confidence they crave. She is also the host of the Skinny Dipping Prescription podcast and creator of Somatic Skin Science. 

 

Dr. Keira shares her story and we discuss how our skin is not just a surface issue, but a reflection of what's happening inside our bodies. 

We explore factors that show up on our skin, such as genetics, diet, mental health, stress and self-care practices. Dr. Keira shares the importance of understanding and regulating our nervous system to support our skin health.

Dr. Keira talks about the need to address the mental and emotional aspects of skincare in addition to traditional dermatological approaches. Rather than focusing on specific products, we really highlight the importance of coping skills and equipping women with tools to regulate their stress response.

Dr. Keira explains how her Somatic skincare is a way to establish a deeper connection with oneself and the body. She explains more about the practices and tuning in to our body’s messages.

I really appreciated the conversation around challenges faced by women, especially as they age and feeling comfortable in their own skin.  Dr. Keira challenges the concept of "anti-aging," and we talk about the societal pressure to resist aging and the marketing tactics that prey on these fears.
