**TRIGGER WARNING: We discuss very vivid parts of birth, premature labor, life in the NICU, breastfeeding and other topics that may be difficult to listen to. **
——————————
Based on the title, I’m assuming it’ll be mainly women listening to this episode. So, hello ladies!
On today’s episode,
I’m chatting with my girlfriend of 15 years, Barbara (Barbie) Mercado.
From our fake ID days, to becoming stay at home moms, the stories are truly endless but today I wanted to talk specifically about her recent birth story, that didn’t go according to plan.
At 33 weeks pregnant things took a turn for the worst and she walks us through the ENTIRE thing… and doesn’t sugar coat any of it!
She shares her struggles with postpartum depression, the guilt she felt while her son was in the NICU (and not for the reason you think), plus the BIG RED FLAGS she ignored prior to going into labor (hindsight being 2020) that she wants any soon to be mamas to be aware of.
Note: this episode is emotional, beautiful, and scary AF but it’s highlighting some of (our) truths behind pregnancy, birth and what it’s like being a mother. (And being it’s 2021, I have to say we’re not experts and are just speaking from our personal experiences)
Lastly, I know motherhood can be so lonely and isolating but knowing that we’re all in this together makes for the time between naps and bedtime a little shorter.
This is a safe space for me and I hope it is for you too. So please remember, you’re not alone!
Love you!
