In today's episode of the LDS Mission Podcast (episode number 136), we delve into the intriguing topic of "Emotion Work for Goals." With a mission-focused perspective, I want to emphasize the significance of understanding not just the outward facets of mission work but also the internal aspects that often remain unseen. Throughout the episode, I bring attention to the need for missionaries to engage in a form of emotional preparedness.

Today, I want to challenge your conventional beliefs about the emotions required to achieve goals, debunking the idea that one must constantly feel motivated, excited, or confident. Instead, try for embracing a wider range of emotions, including disappointment, guilt, and frustration, recognizing them as integral parts of the journey towards success. I have a fresh approach of three alternative emotions as effective drivers for goal attainment: curiosity, commitment, and certainty. These emotions can serve as powerful motivators, especially during challenging times.

I want to encourage all of us to not only to accept the full spectrum of emotions but also to consider the alternative fuels of curiosity, commitment, and certainty as they pursue their goals in various aspects of life.
