Good Movement Draws Good Movement

14. Slow is Smooth Smooth is Fast

Listen Later

Toward the end of 2023, I set three main intentions for what was left of the year - listen to Daily Audio Bible and have quiet time daily, be more present with my husband and kids and less in my head, and open the doors for my 1:1 Good Movement Coaching Membership. However, I ended up adding a fourth intention… unintentionally.

This got me thinking about a valuable concept we use in stockmanship, which is ‘slow is smooth, smooth is fast’. In this episode, I talk more about how this phrase applies to both livestock and humans (and how it differs between us), understanding that the hills we have to climb in life don’t necessarily have to be the hardest or most painful, and what slowing down can actually look like in our lives.

I’ve personally learned that slowing down doesn’t mean we’re taking the easy way out, or keeping us from where we want to go. Instead, taking the opportunity to truly slow down, gain the knowledge we need, and be more intentional about moving forward can have the greatest benefit. I hope this episode encourages you to slow down and see what YOUR best path ahead is!

In this episode, we cover:

  • My decision to start a fourth intention for the end of 2023, and what that’s looked like so far
  • Understanding that we all have hills we have to climb in life, while also knowing there is another way around
  • How the concept of ‘slow is smooth, smooth is fast’ applies to both livestock and humans
  • What slowing down can look like in your life + taking the opportunity to actually do so
  • Why the ‘smooth is fast’ part won’t be as immediately apparent in your interactions and day-to-day life
