Jess Rothwell, National High-Performance Nutrition Leader for Athletics Australia & former world class racewalker chats with Sophie about her athletic life being introduced to race walking at Little Athletics Shepparton, how it plays in the sporting landscape, and her achievements in the sport of racewalking, World Juniors in Poland. She gives insights into her training and mileage, comparisons to running and insights in the technical aspects and injuries. Berlin World Champs 2009, representing Australia at age 20, missing 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, Racewalking World Cups in exotic locales.
Jess then talks about making the transition to a career as a dietitian that started from her childhood on her dad’s dairy farm, the range of topics covered throughout her studies to the path to becoming an Accredited Practicing Dietician as well as the role of a dietitian and the role they should play in an athlete’s training, as well as addressing misinformation on social media.
