191 - Bubba Wallace: Betting on Myself

Bubba Wallace joins T.J. Majors, Brett Griffin and his spotter, Freddie Kraft for a wide-ranging conversation covering his past, present and future. After announcing he’ll leave Richard Petty Motorsports at season’s end, he shares what it was like telling The King and the rest of the team. Wallace then discusses the opportunities in front of him. He candidly reveals that this will be his best shot at success yet and says that he’ll hang it up if he can’t perform well.

Reflecting on his path to the Cup Series, the 26-year-old dives into his Truck Series success, Xfinity Series shortcomings and the move that led to his first Cup ride. It has been a busy year for Bubba and he talks about some cool personal moments, including a Zoom call with Magic Johnson and gaming with Lewis Hamilton.

Plus, Wallace dishes on his aggressive restarts, opinion on the choose rule and how he understands his spotter Kraft’s auctioneer-like calls.

The gang, including co-host Hannah Newhouse and producer Jason Schultz, then reacts to the weekend’s races at Richmond Raceway. They debate Saturday night’s Cup race with no natural cautions and why the tire used continues to be a problem. T.J. made an interesting comment over the radio when Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski were battling for the lead. He tells us what really happened and why spotters sometimes trash talk their drivers over channel two during the races.

The first round of the playoffs will conclude this Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway. The crew shares their expectations, which drivers on the bubble they think have the best chance to advance and which are in trouble.
