Door Bumper Clear’s first trip of the year to Talladega Superspeedway is complete as Brett Griffin, T.J. Majors and Freddie Kraft recap the wild weekend of racing. And with Dover Motor Speedway race weekend upon us, the guys get ready to see the DBC sponsored Justin Allgaier No. 7 car hit the track on Saturday in the Xfinity Series race.
To kick off Spot On, Spot Off, the crew discuss Erik Jones’ move to block Kyle Larson on the last lap of the Cup Series race on Sunday and how it cost him the win. Also, they talk about why Jones was a sitting duck for Ross Chastain to get by him for the win.
Next, Freddie provides insight into the contact Bubba Wallace made with Joey Logano that took the No. 22 out of the race on a freak restart wreck. Hear what Freddie relayed to Wallace during the restart and Logano's comments on the current state of superspeedway racing.
In an interview after crashing out, Chase Briscoe described how the cars reacted differently to pushes compared to the first Next Gen car superspeedway race at Daytona. The gang talks about why the cars were having difficulty building and completing runs on other cars.
The Ford teams went against their typical superspeedway pit strategy and choose to break the teams into two groups. Hear what each spotter thought about the new strategy and whether or not they should try it again. Hendrick Motorsports changed up their setup focus from qualifying to race pace. Is qualifying all that important at superspeedways? The guys discuss the change in philosophy.
Finally, Kyle Busch commented on his contract negotiations with Joe Gibbs Racing. The guys speculate about the possibility of him leaving JGR, which other team could court him, and why they ultimately think Busch brought his negotiations public.
