289: Leanne Pompeani | Ultra Trail Australia | 100km World Record
Run your next PB at the Gold Coast Marathon in 2023. Fast, flat and scenic. There is an event distance for everyone – from the full marathon to the kids 2 and 4km junior dash.
Leanne Pompeani is this week’s guest host, and shares some of her experiences she’s had this year, starting with her recap of race at World Cross Country Championships in Bathurst, what her preparations looked like and how she dealt with fatigue and recovery afterwards, then how turning around to the National 5000m Championships in Sydney. Leanne explains how the opportunity to pace at the Nagoya Marathon came about and what she saw as a potential window to the future, before rounding out with her recent trip to the USA where she set personal bests in the 5k and 10k on the track and her week of training returning home.
George Murray and Emily Gilmour-Walsh were the UTA100 winners over in the Blue Mountains, NSW, while Blake Turner and Hau Ha each won the 50k ultra distance.
Aleksandr Sorokin broke his own 100km World Record in his home city of Vilnius, Lithuania, running 6:05 at an average pace of 3:39/km.
Listener Question of the week asks whether it’s better to set long runs to time or to distance, then Moose on the Loose scrapes the barrel for ideas before turning on Ellie’s threshold foolishness.
Brady can be found hosting the newly launched Road to Gold Coast series featuring Ed Goddard and Reece Edwards over on Patreon.
