In light of recent events of police brutality and the realities that structural and systemic racism still exists, parents are feeling the need to start having these conversations in order to teach and prepare them for what they may witness growing up as a black child in America. Though the conversations about race, racism, and discrimination will look differently for each family, the conversation is a much needed one that requires intentionality and consciousness.
