Dr Stacy Sims is a physiologist who specialises in women's fitness, performance, nutrition and hormone related health. This seems ridiculous given the fact that women make up about 50% of the global population, but the vast majority of scientific data we have has been derived by studying only men, which means theres a glaring lack of science-based information thats specific to women. And this often means women are doing the wrong training, eating the wrong food, not reaching their full potential, and/or often suffering unnecessary discomfort and pain. Dr Sims' mission is to redress that imbalance.
In this episode we talk about how body temperature is a factor in women's health and performance.
We learn what exercises women should be doing and what nutrition they should be consuming. Should women be taking cold plunges ?
We learn how women in peri menopause are in a state of sympathetic drive and what this means for their health and performance.
Expect to learn of the value of interval training.
Discover that women in their 20s and 30s can positively influence their personal experience of the peri-menopause and menopause years ahead of time.
Plus, we find out how women can reframe how they perceive weight training, consumption of protein and the gym space that is ususally a male dominated arena.
