I’m excited to hear what you think about this mini episode! I love sharing with you things I do in my personal self care practice and this is one of them!
Here’s what we get into.
Dry brushing is exactly as it sounds- brushing your dry skin before a shower. The skin is typically brushed toward the heart, starting at the feet and hands and brushing toward the chest.
Why should we include this in our lifestyle?
1. Dry brushing stimulates the lymphatic system which is a major part of our immune system.
Our lymphatic system is made up of organs and lymph nodes, ducts, and vessels that transport lymph throughout the body. Many of these lymph vessels run just below the skin which is why dry brushing the skin regularly helps stimulate lymph flow within the body which improves immunity & helps us to naturally detoxify.
2. MAY REDUCE CELLULITE
The evidence on this is anecdotal, but I’ve found that many people who regularly practice dry brushing have seen reduced amount of cellulite. It's free and has other proven benefits sooo it's worth a try?!
3. It can increase energy since it increases circulation.
"Supporters of dry brushing claim that it can stimulate the lymphatic system, help the body detox, and increase circulation or energy. Even dermatologists agree that gently brushing the skin does have exfoliating benefits and may go beyond skincare by stimulating the body in a way similar to massage, which certainly does have researched benefits."
