In this episode I am delighted to be joined by the wonderful Diane Neubauer 杜雁子. Diane is a Mandarin Chinese teacher with over the 14 years experience across age groups. She currently teaches online part-time while working on her PhD in Foreign Language & ESL Education at the University of Iowa. She presents on a variety of language teaching topics at conferences and is involved in research relevant to comprehension-based language teaching and learning. She is currently chair of the ACTFL (USA language association) Comprehension-based Communicative Language Teaching (CCLT) Special Interest Group. Diane talks to us about her PhD research, teaching in the moment, language teacher professional development, raising engagement in the online classroom and what is involved with "language play".
