This episode touches on suicide, if you or someone you know needs help please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.
Shockingly, the number of Australian men who die by suicide every year is nearly double the national road toll. While many men seek help, some men’s mental health challenges go unrecognised for a very long time. A handful of contributing factors, like genetics, past trauma and upbringing aren’t changeable, but there are many that are. Irrespective of what’s happened in the past, understanding and help are readily available, just a phone call away in fact. Before men’s mental health challenges can be addressed, they need to be identified. In this episode my guest, Dr Tim Moss from healthymale.org.au, powerfully shares some of his own mental health journey, reveals his brilliant mental health barometer, explains signs and symptoms for fellas to look out for, shares where to reach out to for help and much more.
