The agonisising pain of loss is so hard to live with; it’s common to armour up and to try to protect ourselves from ever experiencing that type of hurt ever again. This is the experience of Jenny Wynter after losing her mum at the tender age of five. Jenny spent the next 30 years bracing herself from more loss but, eventually, in the face of losing her other mum, her nan; she realised just how much she needed to let go of the armour and deeply connect, contemplating how decades of bracing came not with protection, but at a cost. In this heartwarming conversation comedian and mental health advocate Jenny Wynter shares openly about love and loss, about her own mental health journey to her diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder and how her experiences shaped her career in comedy from clown doctor to award winning performance artist.
