In Episode 73 of the Emotional Eats Podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Joe Hoye, founder of Hoye Fit, about his unique decision as a young man to focus on helping women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s.

He helps midlife women get fit, lose weight, and improve their longevity. Joe shared his heartfelt and personal story, which began when his mother took him to the gym at 13, helping him discover his passion for fitness. He described how his early struggles with body image, confidence, and weight gain shaped his mission to help others, particularly women, find their own strength and self-worth through health and fitness.

Joe talks about his "diet detox" approach, which encourages women to move away from restrictive diets and into a thriving, empowered relationship with food. We talk about why strength training is crucial for women over 40, how cardio can often lead to muscle loss, and how important it is to focus on fat loss rather than just weight loss. 

One of my favorite topics that Joe discusses is the role of mindset in midlife health, sharing that success starts in the mind and that overcoming the mental barriers to health is just as important as the physical aspects.
