I always have high hopes we're going to have good conversation, but always leave our interactions disappointed. This issue tends to be most common between daughters and mothers. Often memories are brought up, but not enough mindful presence with their mothers or parents. For the parent, show interest in the adult child AS the adult that they are. Meet your adult child again by showing interest and asking questions. Your adult children want to connect with you and they want to know you.
