Welcome to Episode 77 of the Emotional Eats podcast!
I sat down with Jared Hamilton, fat loss and mindset coach who helps people not only lose weight, but heal their relationship with food and focus on the inside as much as the outside.
Jared shared his journey of transitioning from being known as the "sustainable fat loss guy" to embracing a deeper, more holistic approach that combines both mental and emotional well-being with sustainable fat loss.
More fun facts about Jared: Dog dad x 3, purple belt in jiu-jitsu, Host of the Dieting From the Inside Out podcast.
Jared explained how his own personal development journey led him to realize that true change begins with inner work. Jared shares that his coaching shifted as he discovered that many of his clients’ struggles with weight and food stemmed from deeper issues related to self-worth, identity, and emotional coping mechanisms.
We talk about the challenges many women face with diet culture and the pervasive "binge-restrict" cycle. Jared shares insights into how restriction often leads to binge eating and how this harmful pattern can be broken by addressing the underlying issues, such as fear of food and body image insecurities.
His framework helps clients rewire their mindset around food, shifting away from labeling foods as "good" or "bad," and instead, focusing on creating healthier, more sustainable habits.
We discuss the importance of quiet reflection and alignment, with Jared sharing how he often takes solo sabbaticals to reconnect with his purpose and re-evaluate his coaching methods. He highlighted the importance of combining emotional and mental well-being with physical health, stating that they cannot be separated for lasting success.
