Happy 2022!!!
2022 hasn't exactly started the way I wanted, nor has it for many people I know. But 2022 has already given me some gold that I must share with you all.
If you're someone who experiences anxiety from time to time or you're someone who is going through a rough patch, this episode is for you. Tune in as I share a recent anxiety filled story and what I did to help me 'go through it.'
I share 5 tips on how you can manage your own anxiety
1. label how you're feeling in the moment. Accept that is how you feel. In other words, don't run from it. "Right now, I'm having a fear thought...' etc
2. Redirect your anxious or fear thoughts by responding to them with... "I'm not going to think about that right now..." Or if you're having visual images, say..."Change the channel...." Redirect as many times as you need too but know that you're in control of how you respond to those thoughts.
3. Calm your Vagus nerve from giving yourself a high five to the heart (thanks Mel Robbins). Repeat, chant, sing the following words - "NAME, it's okay, you're safe, you're loved. 4.
4. Change your environment. Go outside. Connect in with your senses... "What's 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell, 1 thing you can taste...." Move your body. Pace. Walk. Jump up and down. Create movement in your body to help regulate your emotions.
5. Turn to gratitude. Think about the outcome you want to see. Speak out loud what you want to see happen. Give thanks for the things you DO have in your life.
I'd love to know what you think of this podcast. Leave me a review on Spotify or apple podcast.
