"You shouldn't feel guilty for that..."

Have you heard that little phrase being tossed around on social media or even in your friends circle?

Only, that's not how feelings work and what does it do to tell ourselves we shouldn't feel any feeling?

How do you feel when someone says

"you shouldn't feel mad about that..." rather than seeking to understand why you feel mad about that?

"you shouldn't feel excited about that..." rather than holding space for your excitement to grow?
