In this episode, I'm sharing my wife's pregnancy essentials. She has carried six children to term and currently carrying number seven. Everything I am about to share is my wife's experience.
I am not suggesting you bypass your doctor's orders as we all need to take responsibility for our own health.
Here are Ama's 5 holistic pregnancy essentials:
1. After trying different forms of iron during her pregnancies with no luck and lot of side effects, we finally came up with Blood Vitality. We have used it with the last 3 pregnancies and it has been a total game changer. Getting her iron levels up has allowed her to give birth at home and helped restore her energy.

2. My wife who is also a naturopathic physician used amino acids to reduce the swelling in her lower legs and ankles. Taking essential amino acids supports the formation of the protein albumin in the liver which serves an important role in pulling fluid out of the tissues and back into the bloodstream.

3. My wife's go-to for keeping nausea at bay is a smoothie. This allows her to get her protein in without any repercussions (ie - vomiting). Her last pregnancy we had goat whey, banana, frozen strawberries on repeat. Clean sources of protein are crucial for a mother's wellbeing and the baby's development.

4. Exercise is crucial for maintain blood pressure, blood sugar and overall wellbeing. When we talk about exercise and pregnancy, this is exercise to strengthen your mind and body, to reduce what my wife calls stagnation and sluggishness, especially when you can’t do many of the activities you are used to doing.
If you don’t know where to start with exercise and pregnancy, you can check out @nourishmovelove programing on YouTube, my wife intersperses these workouts during the week.
5. My wife, Ama, will get a lot of tension in her upper back and neck during pregnancy, which leads to tension headaches. So, she goes through scoops of magnesium threonate most days and finds it very helpful at decreasing the tension that builds each day.
As her pregnancy progresses, her ability to get comfortable becomes challenging so she finds taking magnesium threonate helps her body relax so she can get some quality sleep.
