Today, I speak with Dr. Linda McLean, a professor in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences and Chair in Women's Health Research at the University of Ottawa in Canada. Her research program focuses on understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms associated with pelvic floor disorders in women, and on the development of improved intervention approaches. Linda and her team have been studying the underlying cause of urine leakage in runners, and their recent findings may lead to improved strategies for prevention and management so that women can continue to remain active and perform optimally.

Today I am speaking with ultra runner Rachel Drake. She is the mother of a 1.5 year old, a two time top 10 finisher at UTMB races (7th at CCC in 2019 and 6th at OCC in 2023), Black Canyon 100k champion and was 2nd at the Golden Trail World Championships in 2020. Outside of running, she has her MD PhD from Oregon Health and Science University and is starting residency training in anesthesiology at the University of Utah. Today I am speaking with Dr. Jenny LaCross, a certified athletic trainer and board-certified clinical specialist in women’s health physical therapy with almost a decade of clinical experience working with individuals with pelvic health, low back, and hip conditions. After completing her PhD in 2023 studying hip dysplasia in young active females, Jenny joined the University of Michigan Pelvic Floor Research group where she currently works as a postdoctoral research fellow under the mentorship of Drs. James Ashton-Miller and John DeLancey . She is currently studying pelvic floor functional anatomy and motor control of the urogenital hiatus.
