Experience remote ruggedness, Alpine Lakes, and impressive forests in this seldom visited range in Rocky Mountain National Park, the Mummy Range. Get away from the crowds and experience pristine wilderness where you might not see anyone but your hiking mates for days! • Hike Wind River Range Wyoming

The Wind River Range in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming, is the mountain range that inspired Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia clothing) to spend his life climbing mountains. Breathtaking in beauty, this remote and rugged mountain range is not nearly as well known as the Tetons, but is just as striking, and not as crowded.

Where is the Wind River Range located?

The Wind River Range is a couple hour drive south of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Most people fly in to the beautiful Jackson Hole airport. Try to allow a couple of days to explore this great town, as well as some days hiking and playing in the Tetons just outside of town. You can listen to the Teton podcast episode and see more photos here.

The Wind River Range runs about 100 miles in a NW-SE direction, including about 80 miles of the Continental Divide following the crest of the range. The Wind River mountains include Wyoming's highest peak, Gannett Peak at 13,804′ (4207 m). The range includes two large national forests and three wilderness areas.

The entire Wind River Range is part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Part of the range falls within the Wind River Indian Reservations.

There are about 600 miles of hiking trails in the Wind River Range and many consider this are to have the most beautiful mountains in Wyoming.

  • Kumano Kodo Trail In Japan

The Kumano Kodo pilgrimage network of trails in Japan traces its roots back 1000 years to when emperors and samurai would trek these forested rural paths to Japan's most important sacred shrines and temples. This beautiful trek is a UNESCO World Heritage trail, the only such trail besides its sister trail, the El Camino del Santiago in Spain. It is a challenging hike with significant ascents and descents. Each evening, you stay in a local traditional Japanese inn, partake in the ritual evening bath, and enjoy the outstanding local cuisine. In today's show, we interview world nomad and fellow travel blogger Sherry Ott of Ottsworld.com about her five-day trek of the Nakahechi trail. An avid worldwide hiker, Sherry puts the Kumano Kodo trail in her top 5 trails!

  • Cycle Tour Northern Thailand from Bangkok to Chiang Rai

Thailand has always been a go-to travel destination, and tourists are drawn to its capital, Bangkok. Instead of going that route, Emily Sedgwick and her husband chose to explore the rural parts of Northern Thailand through a cycle tour from Bangkok to Chiang Rai.

Our guests enjoyed every part of their guided tour going through hills, riding narrow boats through mighty rivers and visiting local villages. Emily and her husband got to see the best Northern Thailand has to offer like ethical elephant sanctuaries and sumptuous local dishes. Since they were exploring Thailand by bike, they got to observe the local people and their surroundings even more. Through their journey, Emily realized that Thailand has something for everybody, and she shares how you can have an amazing trip to Thailand as well.
