What is wrong with a culture of fast fixes?

In this episode entitled No Laughing Matter: Art From the Gutter, Amisha meets sustainable fashion designer and lecturer, Michelle Lowe-Holder.

Michelle was inspired to relocate to England from America by the famously radical and innovative fashion design scene. It was here that she became interested in working with more ethical materials and practises and released her first sustainable fashion collection in 2010.

Michelle has most recently acquired a surprisingly detailed understanding of teen drug culture, as well as a collection of over 3,000 used nitrous oxide canisters. She has created provocative works of art from her glittering urban forage, which shock audiences by their scale.

Together Amisha and Michelle discuss the impact of fast fashion on our mindset and environment, how the 'fast high' of nitrous oxide exemplifies a worrying trend towards disposability and increased waste, and what we as individuals can do to counter such trends.

What does it truly mean to be Foolish?

In this episode entitled Making a Fool of Yourself to Find Your Truth, Amisha meets professional Fool, Jonathan Kay. For the uninitiated, The Fool exists somewhere in the archetypal space between a clown, your inner child and a guru - and everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Tune in to experience Foolish ways of looking, seeing, being… and flying!

Jonathan has been a performer since a young age, travelling and performing with theatres and bands. Something mysterious happened to him in Winchester in the early 80s which led him to be touched by The Fool and his present life's work evolved from there. He now teaches workshops and programmes, as well as continuing to perform and bring The Fool to audiences and initiates across the globe.

Together Amisha and Jonathan explore what it really means to make a Fool of ourselves. Jonathan draws on powerful, painful stories to give examples of the depth of his work with The Fool - which is essentially a spiritual practice for him.

At a time of growing individual and global burnout, how can looking to nature's patterns inspire us to find more sustainable and harmonious ways of living?

In this episode entitled The Positive Power of Pattern, Amisha meets with Anna Murray, co-founder of Patternity - a 'conscious creative organisation' working with pattern to inspire more curious, collaborative and connected ways of living.

Anna shares her journey with patterns, noticing how they play out in her own life and in the world around her, and speaks about how we can work with pattern awareness to create balance in our lives. During her early career in advertising, Anna became aware that something was very wrong with the way she was using her creativity. This sense of discomfort grew stronger and she began to hear a call to change direction. Anna speaks about the experience of taking a leap of faith to respond to this call and how her life has transformed as a result.

As an entrepreneur starting a new business, Anna and her business partner, Grace Winteringham, quickly came up against their own patterns and the patterns of the business culture around her. She tells how they were pushed to change, and to really live Patternity's ethos of interconnectedness, beauty and balance. We hear how the two women repatterned their working lives and company culture to be in balance and harmony with natural patterns.

Together Anna and Amisha discuss the cycles that shape our lives on a personal and societal level, the bias we hold against slower, darker aspects of different cycles, and the gifts that come from tracking and tuning into our own cyclical nature. Anna tells us about her decision to approach life with more spirals and fewer stripes and what this means in her day to day life.

How can we change the world by changing our consciousness?

In this episode entitled Oxygenating Beautiful States of Mind, Amisha meets author, investigative journalist and teacher of meditation Alan Clements. Together they explore the nature of meditation, consciousness, beauty and activism.

Alan shares the story of his enquiry into the influence of consciousness on consciousness itself, including what inspired him to study "the elements of consciousness that enhance its frequency, luminosity, liberty and enlightenment." We hear about the shift from external exploration - through psychedelics, entheogens, diet and yoga - toward an internal exploration, which led Alan to Burma, to the Mahasi Meditation Centre, and his teacher there.

After studying mindfulness meditation in a Burmese monastery for over 20 years, Alan returned to the world of laypeople and now spends his days writing, running retreats and teaching what he has learned to others. He and Amisha speak about the challenges of studying meditation outside the controlled environment of a monastery, and how we can practise mindful intelligence as a way of being in everyday life.

Alan shares his beliefs about how monogamous commitment is the way of the future for loving relationships, and why abandoning polyamory allows us to reach greater states of freedom together than we can alone. He tells how - by holding the highest integrity of presence in every moment and encounter - we can each change the world right here, right now and one person at a time.

How do the soundscapes of our lives influence us?

In this episode entitled The Art, Craft and Science of Sonic Experience, Amisha meets visionary listener, musician, educator, and global citizen Aurelio. Now based in India, Aurelio grew up in Austria and has travelled the world studying the origins and functions of music.

Aurelio rejected book-learning in favour of finding embodied experiences of music in daily life around the globe. He speaks of the primal pulses and frequencies that infuse our existence from conception onwards and how these influence our cells, our sense of harmony, and our social rituals.

Aurelio tells us about life and works at Svaram - a campus and community in Auroville, dedicated to experience of sound. He talks about the roles of music in our lives - both individually and collectively - and the findings of neurobiological studies into the effects of sound and music on our brains from our earliest moments in utero.

Together Aurelio and Amisha explore the ever-changing soundscapes of our lives; from the jungle to the city and from the womb out into the world.

How many slaves are making your clothes?

In this episode entitled Slaves to Fashion: a Voice for the Voiceless, Amisha meets author, consultant and social entrepreneur Safia Minney, who founded ethical fashion brands People Tree and Po-Zu. Safia speaks to us about modern slavery: all the ways it is hidden in plain view and what she and others are doing to change the broken system that perpetuates it.

Amisha and Safia discuss how the very fabric of our environments is part of a tangled web of human rights abuses and environmental degradation. We hear stories of some of the 41 million slaves worldwide who have been trapped in bonded labour, human trafficking.

As awareness grows around modern day slavery and legislation begins to come in, big companies are forced to account for the treatment of workers in their supply chains. However, more still needs to be done. Safia tells us how we can act to make a change, refusing to stay complicit in a polluting and abusive system where the human and environmental cost of high-street fashion prices is just too high.

Nature doesn't give them to us free of charge- they come with environmental costs and they come with environmental risks and those risks are often borne by the most vulnerable people in the world" - Safia Minney

How can we access and maintain a perpetual flow state of ease, abundance and inspiration?

In this episode entitled Finding Our Way to Flow Consciousness… and Staying There, Amisha shares a moment with consciousness researcher, serial entrepreneur and Co-Founder of the Flow Consciousness Institute Justin Faerman.

How would it feel to have a continuous experience of being effortlessly supported by life, knowing that all the resources that you need to thrive and experience exponential growth and success will flow to you with ease? In this episode Justin introduces us to the experience of flow consciousness and reveals some of the entry points we can all find in our own lives to tap into it.

Justin shares the foundational importance of learning how to tune into our intuition, shifting from a focus on the mind to a greater awareness of felt sense in and around our bodies. Together he and Amisha share their own journeys of learning to access and follow their intuition, as well as discussing some of the latest scientific research into intuition and consciousness.

We hear the story of how Justin came to be living and working with flow consciousness, his experience of sharing what he has learned with others and some of the obstacles people face on their journey to embracing flow consciousness as a way of life. How can rediscovering our creativity free us to thrive?

In this episode entitled 64 Million Artists: Unlocking The Creative Potential of a Nation, Amisha meets creative consultant and entrepreneur Jo Hunter.

Jo grew up very creative, but as the pressures of adult life kicked in, like so many of us she became focused on being fast and being perfect, rather than being creative. When the hectic pace of her 'dream job' began to take its toll, Jo took a month out to slow down and reconnect. She asked people around her to set her some creative challenges, and working through them one by one she rediscovered her own creativity - her capacity to take risks and to play - and it changed her life.

Now with her organisation 64 Million Artists Jo works to help others reconnect with their own creativity. The team go into a variety of workplaces from factories to hospitals and challenge people to step out of their comfort zones and into the realm of new, playful experiences. Jo speaks about the structural, social and organisational obstacles to creativity and how we can bust through them to unleash our creative selves for the benefit of all.
