Another Dolphins Podcast

In this episode of Phinsider Radio, Jake and I discuss Ryan Fitzpatrick’s recent comments on Tua Tagovailoa, DeVante Parker vs Michael Thomas, and the three most important players heading into the 2020 season.

First, we discuss Ryan Fitzpatrick’s recent comments on the Eric Wood podcast. What did Fitzmagic have to say about his time in the NFL, and what he can do to help Tua Tagovailoa get acclimated to the league? Is there a quarterback competition brewing in South Florida?

Next, Jake and I discuss our three most important players in 2020. Could it be Tua Tagovailoa or Ryan Fitzpatrick? Which offensive lineman needs to play well for the entire unit to come together? And what veteran are we hoping to see an impact from in 2020?

Lastly, we discuss the feud between DeVante Parker and Michael Thomas. Who’s right? Who’s wrong? And what does it mean for the Dolphins’ wide receivers as a hole? Who could impress in 2020 and which receiver could be on the bubble?

In this episode of Phinsider Radio, Jake and I discuss Tua Tagovailoa’s impressive jersey sales, rookies that have signed, which free agents could help Miami, and the most overrated/underrated players heading into the 2020 season.

First, we take a look at which Dolphins rookies have signed contracts and what type of impact that could have this offseason. How will the rookies fair in a non-traditional NFL offseason? Next, we take a look around the NFL at jersey sales and discuss which player has the #1 selling jersey on the planet.

(Spoiler alert: It’s Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.)

Next, Jake and I discuss the Dolphins’ interest in free agent defensive back Logan Ryan. Could Miami sign another cornerback? Or should they have interest in another free agent, like former Saints offensive guard Larry Warford? Which player fills the greater need?

Lastly, we take a look at Miami’s best and worst players heading into the 2020 season. Who is the most overrated? Underrated? Which player will make the most significant leap? Who has the most to prove?

As we push through the most crucial offseason in Miami Dolphins’ history, Jake Mendel (@JMendel94), and I (@Houtz) will bring you the latest Dolphins news and analysis that you won’t find ANYWHERE else. Enjoy! #FinsUp!

In this episode of Phinsider Radio: Jake Mendel (@JMendel94) and I (@houtz) are joined by Christopher Cochran (@Cochran108) to discuss the NFL schedule, Dolphins’ football on Thanksgiving, and jersey numbers!

First, the three amigos try to solve Jake’s mystery of which player had the honor of eating the turkey leg on Thanksgiving day. Was it Ricky Williams, Jay Fielder, or Chris Chambers in 2003? What about Joey Harrington, as he got revenge on his former team in 2006? NO ONE knows, and Jake needs to find out. (I’m not sure why.)

Next, we go through the Dolphins’ 2020 schedule. What can we expect from Miami in their second season under Brian Flores? What games are we most looking forward to? How will the season play out? And when might first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa get his first NFL start?

Lastly, we talk about jersey numbers and whether or not they hold any sentimental value. Do we like or dislike Tua Tagovailoa wearing the #1? Should we be upset about Emmanuel Ogbah wearing #91? What about Jordan Howard wearing the #34? Does a number define a player, or does the player determine the number?

In this episode of Phinsider Radio: Jake Mendel (@JMendel94) and I (@houtz) reflect the legacy of the GOAT, Don Shula.

First, we take a look at what The Don meant to the Miami Dolphins, and how he helped build the National Football League into what it has become today. We then discuss what this loss means to the game of football, and how the rest of the world handled this heartbreaking news.

“Coach Shula will truly be missed. He embodied the definition of ‘greatness.’ He brought that winning attitude with him every day and made everyone around him better. I want to thank him for always believing in me. He made me a better player and person. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Shula family.” - Dan Marino

Next, we take a brief journey through Shula’s life. From his early days of forging his mom’s signature on a permission slip to play high school football, to his time as a defensive back in Baltimore. We touch on the historic 15-player-trade, being the only undefeated coach in NFL history, 2x Super Bowl Champion, four-time Head Coach of the Year, Hall of Fame inductee... and the list goes on and on and on.

Lastly, we give our two cents about the upcoming schedule release and what number Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa should wear.

In this episode of Phinsider Radio: Jake Mendel (@JMendel94) and I (@houtz) breakdown the Miami Dolphins 2020 NFL draft class.

What was going through our heads as the Dolphins successfully pulled off one of the greatest smokescreens in recent memory? We discuss how it feels to have a perennial superstar QB in Miami finally. How soon should the Dolphins turn to Tagovailoa If Fitzpatrick struggles? (spoiler alert: let him sit the entire season!)

We then discuss the rest of the first round and our initial thoughts on OT Austin Jackson and shutdown cornerback Noah Igbinoghene. What can we expect from both players in 2019, and what is the long-term vision in Miami? Was Jackson a reach? How does Igbinoghene fit into a loaded secondary?

Next, we discuss day two of the draft. What should fans expect from Robert Hunt, and where might he play in 2019? And although it appeared Miami got sniped for J.K. Dobbins by Baltimore, Brian Flores seemed over-the-moon excited for Raekwon Davis. How does he fit upfront in Miami’s versatile defense? Speaking of secondary, how does Texas Safety Brandon Jones look on tape? Did the Dolphins find a younger version of Reshad Jones?

Lastly, we breakdown the final day of draft weekend. How do we feel about Georgia IOL Solomon Kindley, UNC DL Jason Strowbridge, Boise St. EDGE Curtis Weaver, LSU LS Blake Ferguson, and swiss-army knife Malcolm Perry?
