Another Dolphins Podcast

The Miami Dolphins are battling an injury bug in the secondary for the second-straight year. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey suffered a torn meniscus just days into training camp and could be without the team for the majority of the season. The All-Pro defensive back had surgery on his knee on Friday, and his ACL is reportedly intact, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The move comes just months after the Dolphins sent a third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long to the Log Angeles Rams in exchange for the six-time Pro Bowler.

Fans of the Miami Dolphins wanted the franchise to reunite quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with two of his college teammates by drafting both Jaylen Waddle and Najee Harris in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. General manager Chris Grier executed half the gameplan before going off script and selecting Jaelan Phillips as the No. 18 overall pick. Phillips set a Miami Dolphins rookie record with 8.5 sacks and haunted opposing quarterbacks with 19 quarterback hits his sophomore season. Could year three be when Phillips is mentioned among the league's top pass rushers?

Veterans on the Miami Dolphins arrived for training camp on Tuesday and Wednesday marking the first practice of the 2023 NFL preseason. More than a month remains before the season begins -- plenty of time to get healthy. That said, we break out the queasy meter left by former head coach Joe Philbin and see what it can tell us about injuries to Terron Armstead, Isaiah Wynn, and Nik Needham. Should we be concerned about injuries early in training camp, or are we worrying because there is nothing better to do?

The perk of rebuilding, if you draft correctly, is seeing players become the best at their position. The Miami Dolphins drafted Jaelan Phillips in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and must feel pretty good about that decision. Phillips improved in each of his first two seasons — but where is the ceiling? The Dolphins made Vic Fangio the league's highest-paid defensive coordinator and brought in all-pro defensive back Jalen Ramsey. There are high expectations for Miami's defense in 2023 -- how can Phillips help the Dolphins return to the playoffs?

Jaelan Phillips set a Miami Dolphins rookie record with 8.5 sacks in 2021. In his sophomore season, Phillips displayed a trained eye as a high-energy outside linebacker capable of derailing an entire game plan. Phillips was always moving and always engaged as he became more comfortable in his second season. He evolved into a three-down player after serving as a pass-rushing specialist in year one. The Dolphins leveraged his skillset in Josh Boyer's blitz-happy scheme, what is in store with Vic Fangio now calling the shots on defense?

We're one step closer to the NFL season and while players are looking for new contracts, every member of the Miami Dolphins is expected to attend training camp. Connor Williams sat out of Miami's mandatory minicamp earlier this offseason while Zach Sieler and Christian Wilkins are also under contract for just one more season. What does total attendance mean for the Dolphins? Could Miami get a deal done with any of these players before the season begins? Could the franchise tag be in play next season?

The Miami Dolphins will kickstart training camp on Tuesday as the team's veterans are expected to arrive at the training facility. There are less than two months until the season begins and we've reached the point where we should be hearing updates virtually daily from coaches and players.

Before camp even begins, updates on safety Brandon Jones and cornerback Nik Needham have been released. Could Jones be in for a big year with Vic Fangio calling the shots on defense? If healthy, is Needham a lock for Miami's No. 3 cornerback position?
