Another Dolphins Podcast

The Miami Dolphins spent two seasons with Josh Boyers calling the shots as defensive coordinator. The team has operated under the same style even longer considering the defense was installed by former head coach Brian Flores. Miami chose to switch things up by making 33-year NFL coaching veteran Vic Fangio the league's highest-paid defensive coordinator. After years of testing the odds with a risky defense — does the addition of Fangio make Miami better before even stepping onto the field?

It's hard to ignore what the Miami Dolphins are building in the secondary after trading Hunter Long and a third-round pick for Jalen Ramsey. The Dolphins already had a strong duo of Xavien Howard and Jevon Holland in the defensive backfield but they can't do it alone. Can Kader Kohou be Miami's third cornerback after an impressive rooker season? Will Brandon Jones hit the ground running at safety after an ACL injury derailed the 2022 season?

Miami's defensive front features a handful of former first-round picks that thrived in former defensive coordinator Josh Boyer's blitz-heavy scheme that created plenty of one-on-one matchups in the trenches. How will Bradley Chubb's role change after a midseason trade sent him to Miami? WIll Christian Wilkins continue to put up record-shattering numbers despite adjusting to a new scheme? Will Raekwon Davis secure the bag in a contract year?

Dalvin Cook has made it clear — he's interested in joining the Miami Dolphins. In a recent interview, Cook noted that the Dolphins run a scheme similar to what the four-time 1,000-yard rusher played in with the Minnesota Vikings. What will Cook end up doing and how will it impact Miami's playoff aspirations?

Malki Kawa, agent for linebacker Reuben Foster, shared on Twitter that something could be in the works earlier this week. We've heard that Andrew Van Ginkel is taking snaps at inside linebacker — is it possible reinforcements are on the way?

Miami Dolphins all-pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill is under investigation after a Miami Beach marina worker accused him of assault last week.

Hill was involved in an incident where he allegedly slapped someone working at the marina on the neck with an open hand, having to be removed from the argument.

What does this mean for the Miami Dolphins in 2023? Is a suspension coming for Hill? How would the offense look with Jaylen Waddle carrying a larger portion of the offense on his shoulders?

Linebacker Reuben Foster currently plays for the USFL's Pittsburgh Maulers, but a return to the NFL could unfold in the near future. Miami Dolphins fan Chris Sacconi asked Malki Kawa, foster's agent, on Twitter if there was interest between the two sides.

"Sit tight," Kawa wrote, "It's been in the works for a min."

Foster appeared in 16 games over his three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and tore his ACL in 2019 after signing with the Washington Commanders — could it be time for a comeback?

Four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook didn't need long to think of his response when asked if he'd be interested in joining the Miami Dolphins.

"Yeah, it's an exciting situation to go into," Cook said in a recent Sirius XM radio interview. "You got guys that can stretch the field on the outside. I think that defense is pretty solid to me. Tua (Tagovailoa), when he's out in the field, they got a winning record.

"As a running back, you look for a certain scheme and I know as I notice scheme that I'm good and that's outside zone that's what that's what Miami Dolphins run. So it would be a perfect fit and the roster speaks for itself."

That said, he also started following players on the New York Jets. On top of that, a former general manager said he'd fit perfectly on the New England Patriots. How long will we need to wait until Cook makes a decision?
