Climate change is one of today’s hot topics, influencing everything from policy to couples’ decisions about children. When you really dig into it, the whole climate change discussion is really a religious one—are we God? Do we control the fate of the earth?

The Bible says no—God created this earth, it didn’t evolve, and ultimately the future is controlled by the sovereign God. Our job is not to force the results we think we want. Our mandate is to be good stewards, taking godly dominion over creation.

And God has promised seedtime and harvest will continue as long as earth endures. We don’t control the future—God does!

Our culture is very confused about the value of human life. They claim to value everyone but then celebrate the murder of unborn children, promote racist ideas, and support euthanasia. It’s all so inconsistent!

But we can be consistent when we start with God’s Word. God has created each person, in his image, fearfully and wonderfully. And since we all descended from Adan and Eve, we’re all one race.

Now we live in a sin-cursed world, so every person is a sinner, that explains the hatred, intolerance, and evil humans inflict on each other. And the answer to that’s the same for every person—salvation through Jesus Christ!

What is a woman? Well, that question’s sparked a lot of debate. One Justice even said she couldn’t answer because she’s not a biologist!

But you don’t need a biology degree because God has told us in his Word. You see, God created a male and a female at the very beginning. And they were clearly different! Adam was made first from the dust and then Eve from his side. Adam was commanded to tend the garden, Eve was created and described as a “helper” and a “mother.” Yes, man and woman are different—by design!

Our culture is confused because they’ve left God’s Word. When we start with Scripture we have answers beginning in Genesis.

What’s the god of this age? Well, for the younger generations, it’s identity. They worship self and their subjective feelings about self. And it’s led to much confusion. But there’s clarity in God’s Word!

You see, God created us, so he defines us. We aren’t self-made people, forced to create our own identity.

We’ve been defined as an image bearer of God, so each life has value and dignity. And God has created us either male or female with unique roles as together men and women obey God’s command to have dominion over creation.

Identity shouldn’t control us as our god because the true God has already given us our identity!
