Around The Way Curls

In this week's episode, Shanti gives her updates about feeling old as hell and finally liking Blue (Ant's cat), while Antoinette shares her recent guest podcasting spots interviewing famous folks while disliking certain well-intentioned but seemingly backhanded compliments.

Together, we share our takes on the most recent happenings in pop culture and politics such as Kevin Hart's interview with Jay Z, the erasure of Wendy Willams, Desus + Mero's split, child support at contraception, and the infamous interview between Caresha and Kevin Gates. Join us.

In this episode, we get straight to the main topic! We respond to a listener's DM who is currently raising biracial children and looking for insight into how better help them interface with society and feel grounded in their identities.

Together, we share our experiences within our own family dynamics of being raised by Black fathers and White mothers and what tools and practices we wished our parents had to help us in our own exploration of our racial identities.

Somehow the theme of this episode was verzuz. The girls discuss the train wreck that was Ray J, Bobby V, Pleasure P, Sammie, Omarion, and Mario & Shanti masterfully explain why there are the way they are. Antoinette is full of unpopular opinions on who would win between Usher and JT. Shanti then tries to misconstrue Ant's words during her attempt to praise the consistent brilliance that is Jay-Z by comparing him to Michael Jackson. Finally, we discuss the overturning of Roe V. Wade & Antoniette walks us through a political science course for dummies, from dummies. Join us.

This week Shanti and Antoinette are back in the studio. The girls lament over their white moms never tasting the wonder that is oxtail and gravy. Antoinette invites white to try while Shanti feels they should miss out. They acknowledge the importance of having an older Black woman in your life & who, if anyone, could be their biracial baes. Finally, in true Libra fashion, Antoinette wants to get vulnerable, so they answer invasive questions posed by Esther Perel's card game, "Where Should We Begin". As they answer, they reveal parts of themselves they should break up with, a fantasy of theirs they are conflicted about, and everything in between. Join us.
