Today's question is about HOA rights when it comes to drone flying. Can the HOA inhibit drones from flying in their community?

Our caller, Tristan from South Florida, was recently heckled by a homeowner and asked to stop flying his drone near their house. As per the owner, because his house falls under HOA jurisdiction, Tristan has no right to take off, fly, and land his drone. Is this correct?

Certainly, the HOA or the Homeowner's association is responsible for the upkeep of all the properties that fall under its jurisdiction. But can the HOA exert right over airspace? And, how should Tristan deal with unruly folks who are totally in the dark as far as drone laws are concerned? What are the End Uses of FireFighting Drones?
This show starts with John and Mike describing the various end uses for firefighting drones. Listeners will learn how firefighting drones equipped with EO and thermal cameras enable accurate inspections of large scale fires.

In this segment of the show, you will also learn how information captured via drones can be relayed for real-time monitoring by the command center.
Which is the Best Firefighting Drone?
Next, we segue into a discussion on equipment. Often fire departments end up purchasing wrong and expensive equipment and wasting the taxpayer’s money.

The best firefighting drone, John and Mike reveal is compact and quick & easy to set up. Currently, the FDNY is using the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual. What makes the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual a great firefighting drone? And, why did FDNY transition from the Phantom 4 Pro to the Enterprise Dual?

Skydio 2, Fatshark Googles Coming out with its Own HD FPV System, DJI News, New Drones 2019 (Mavic 2 Pro + and Mavic 2 Zoom+), First FAA-Approved BVLOS Flight
We kick off this week's drone news with the biggest drone news story of this week. According to the latest industry reports, DJI will be launching the all-new DJI Mavic 2 Pro+ and DJI Mavic 2 Zoom+ in January 2020. Drone enthusiasts have been disappointed with the lack of new DJI drone launches in 2019. However, this is all set to change as DJI plans on coming out with the all-new and improved Mavic 2. This new DJI drone will include ADS-B receivers. With DJI looking to shut down their Phantom series, a more capable Mavic is certainly a logical move.

In other DJI News, we will be talking about the industry's leaders plans for Hasselblad. Is DJI coming out with its high-end camera, and eventually planning to kill the Hasselblad brand?

We also discuss how the competition is heating up in the FPV goggles segment. Regular ADU listeners might recall DJI coming out its digital FPV system. Not to be outdone, Fat Shark has announced that they will soon be releasing a similar HD FPV system, Byte Frost. Will Fat Shark manage to come out with a better product than DJI?

Is the Drone Ban in National Parks Justified?
Today's question is about the drone ban in National Parks. How can the drone industry join forces and lobby for the right to fly in National Parks?

Our caller, Chris from Ohio, is an enthusiastic drone pilot who loves to shoot with his Mavic 2. On a recent visit to Las Vegas, Chris was irked by the ban on National Parks and the missed opportunity of grabbing some awesome footage. He reached out to some Congressmen who predictably gave him the cold shoulder. So, how can Chris, as a responsible drone pilot, lobby against this ban on drones in National Parks?

For those who are unaware, drones are not permitted in National Parks. Citing risk to environmentally sensitive areas as well as manned aircraft, drones have been banned in National Parks. But, is this ban justified? Is there a need for a thorough and systemic way of granting permits and ensuring safe flight? We discuss all this and more in today's show.
