Faddis pondered, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

Faddis explained, "Becky Hill's credibility is on the line because she's saying, hey, this didn't happen." He suggested that these allegations of deceit might play a significant role in the upcoming hearing for a new trial for Alex Murdaugh.

 

 The legal intricacies of the case are further complicated by the fact that the judge is already aware of these allegations against Hill. Faddis noted, "Even if they don't come into the hearing, one has to think, is that playing in the judge's mind?" This raises questions about the influence of external factors on legal decisions.

 

 Murdaugh's defense argues that he doesn't need to show actual bias from any juror to obtain a new trial. Faddis clarified that while different jurisdictions have varying standards, Murdaugh would typically need to prove a credible allegation of jury tampering and substantial prejudice. "That's a huge burden," Faddis stated, highlighting the challenge Murdaugh's team faces in proving that the alleged tampering impacted the trial's outcome.

 

 The difficulty lies in proving the influence of jury tampering on individual jurors' decisions. Faddis mused, "If even one juror would have disagreed, that could have resulted in a mistrial." This possibility underscores the significance of even a single juror's influence in such a high-stakes trial.
