In today's episode, we polled you to come up with a big grab bag of questions. We cover a wide range of topics from college life to cooking (Becca's carbonara!). We also talk about how we maintain our privacy (spoiler alert: we're in charge!) and all sorts of other things. Will Becca ever get a dog? Has Grace always been a cat person? Does she walk Tyrion? How did we meet? We got a ton of podcast related questions so we also give a behind the scenes look at the process of creating Bad on Paper. This is a fun episode - pour a glass of wine and come hang out with us!

Yesterday we talked about In Five Years by Rebecca Serle and today she is joining us to give a behind the scenes look at how she wrote the book! Rebecca is an author and television writer in NYC and LA, she has written 6 novels and co-developed the hit television adaptation of her YA series, Famous in Love. We talk about the differences between screenwriting and writing a novel (and why her heart stays with books!) - and the process of adapting a book into a TV show. We talk about the overarching role of fate and free will as themes in all of her books, and where she draws inspiration. Rebecca also answers our questions about hair routine, who would be on her Dinner List, favorite books, favorite authors, and what she has been reading.

This month, we read In Five Years by Rebecca Serle. We both absolutely loved this book and read it in under 24 hours. Before diving into the book, we do our usual quarantine catch up. We are both healthy, staying busy, and Tyrion (Grace's cat) seems to have developed a newfound love for Zoom calls.
This book is about best friends, Dannie and Bella. Dannie is a little bit uptight and is one of those women who always has a plan and knows exactly what she wants. Meanwhile, Bella is a bit more flighty and romantic. On the night that Dannie gets engaged to her long-time boyfriend, David, she has an extremely vivid dream of where her life will be in 5 years. She's in a different apartment, with a different (and sexy) man. We then see how the next five years play out and what happens. Dannie is jilted when she meets Bella's new boyfriend Greg - it's the man from her dream! Bella falls ill and a series of other events happen to turn Dannie's life upside down. She ends up exactly where the dream predicted - discovering that fate is most certainly real. This book will make you cry - but the good kind! This is our favorite book from 2020 - we hope you love it as much as we did!

In this episode we share our favorite recipes, favorite food inspiration accounts to follow, and our personal pantry and grocery shopping staples. We have some strong opinions on condiments, our panic buys, and quarantine cooking fails. Today, we poured ourselves a glass of wine and play a remote game of FMK (Fuck, Marry, Kill) with YOUR prompts! But first, we catch up on how we are holding up in quarantine. We are definitely a mix of adjusting and feeling trapped, but over all we are doing alright.
This episode is a weird one and we are into it. We go through all the important categories… books, meals, celebs, TV characters. Becca kills breakfast (and short men?) and Grace makes a surprising choice when it comes to the Younger cast. Also: who knew the hardest questions would be about food?? We hope you enjoy and are inspired to prompt your friends… we highly recommend setting up a FMK Zoom with your own friends!

Stacey Abrams, needs no introduction but we'll give her one anyway. She's a New York times bestselling author, non profit CEO, and political leader.. and today she joins us to answer all our questions about voting rights: an incredibly important issue that we didn't know NEARLY enough about before this interview.
After losing her 2018 Georgia gubernatorial race, Abrams created Fair Fight to ensure that all Americans were able to vote and to have their votes counted. We talk to her about the different forms of voter suppression and how this disproportionately affects people of color, women, the elderly, and college students. We also discuss how we can make sure we have a safe and fair election in 2020.
About Bad on Politics: Bad on Politics is a monthly bonus episode where we invite a guest expert to help us break down a political topic. We get it, politics is confusing and there's a anxiety-inducing amount of news coverage to follow. So, we're here to ask the "dumb" questions so you don't have to. We want to break things down so you can understand what's going on and make an informed opinion.

In today's episode, we chatted with Sallie Krawcheck (founder and CEO of Ellevest) about the relationship women have with investing. Sallie has been one of our dream guests for some time now and we both learned so much from our conversation. Sallie explains the difference between the wage gap and the wealth gap for women, and the different ways that women spend, save, and manage money. Sallie gives us advice about saving vs. investing, how to get lower interest rates, common mistakes, and how to be more critical about where your money is invested. We also get personal, talking marriage, prenup meltdowns, educating your children about money, and more!

We couldn't stop thinking (or talking) about this book and our friend Jess, so we asked friend of the pod, Katie Sturino to join us to discuss Jessica Simpson's memoir, Open Book. Forget what you think you know about Jessica Simpson (seriously, none of us were superfans or even really fans before this book, but we sure as hell are now!). Her book dives deep into her childhood, music career, relationships, and struggles with addiction. Needless to say, we could not get enough! We discuss the juicy celebrity goss, body image issues, family dynamics, and more in this ep. Seriously, if you haven't read (or listened to this book!), we can't recommend it enough. Looking forward to hearing your hot takes, join us in the FB group to discuss!
And make sure to subscribe to Katie's podcast, Boob Sweat, and follow her on Instagram @katiesturino.

First of all, it's our 2 year podcasting anniversary! In today's ep we're sharing all our best quarantine distractions and recommendations. Between all the family FaceTimes, Zoom happy hours, Powerpoint parties, cooking, organizing, and checking in with family and friends it's easy to forget to keep a routine and take care of yourself too! We want to help by giving some light hearted and fun ways to lose yourself (in a book, tv show, movie, podcast, etc), even if it's only for a little while.
We hope you all stay safe and healthy… come join us in the Facebook group to talk about YOUR favorite distractions and what's keeping you sane(ish).

Our March Book Club Pick is I'll Give you the Sun by Jandy Nelson. Before we get into the book, we talk a little bit about Coronavirus and how we're feeling. This book is the perfect quarantine read as it feels a bit like a cozy warm hug.
The book is the story of Jude and Noah - twins who were once inseparable, but have now grown apart. Via alternating timelines, we learn the heartbreaking reasons that this has happened. Noah tells the story of their younger years, meanwhile Jude's timeline takes place three years later when they are 16. It's magically written and a feel good read… we can't recommend it enough!
Stay safe and healthy, and come join us in the Facebook group to talk about the book!
