Ben Cohen started work in real estate in 2016, making the transition from real estate agent to buyer’s agent in 2023 after observing the time buyers were spending in the market.
Ben was worried that buyers didn’t have the confidence or knowledge to know if they were overpaying or being treated fairly. He sought to take his knowledge of the vendors and their mentality over to buyers to assist them.
Ben believes that coming from the sales side has given him a competitive edge in the market, knowing all the tricks of the trade.
In making the transition, Ben has found success in establishing a relationship with his clients. “I think when we can really understand each buyer’s key objectives, the problems each buyer is trying to solve, then that gives the buyer’s agent a vision of a clear path to best service that buyer,” he says.
As a sales agent, Ben gained experience in managing and dealing with buyers. He has been able to switch from prospecting for stock to sell to prospecting for buying clients.
Ben spent a few months initially educating his colleagues on the selling side about what he could offer them as a buyer’s agent.
He did the same for potential clients, leveraging off existing relationships and using referrals to grow his profile.
