Carli Skurnik began her career working as a sales agent for 10 years, but eventually tired of the cutthroat atmosphere.
"You just became someone who I didn't want to become, whereas the buyer's agent side is the most beautiful. Working with everyone, working with the agents, working with your buyers. There's no stabbing anyone in the back to get a listing or a client," as she explains to Buyer’s Agent Institute founder Ben Handler.
After leaving the real estate industry for four years, a former client asked her to work for his buyer's agency. Two years later, in 2019, she co-founded One Buyers Agency with her brother, Jayden Hurvitz.
Carli specialises in the exclusive Eastern Suburbs region of Sydney. She does a lot of work in the prestige market, buying properties valued at more than $15 million.
As for One Buyers Agency, the company has established itself as one of the country's leading buyer's agencies, in part because of its small, tight-knit team.
"We're very fortunate and humbled that we can get enough stock and keep our office busy, and the more money our office and team are making, the happier they are,” she says.
Carli and her team work very hard, but find the job very rewarding.
