This week on Bakers Bantering, we recap our awesome night backstage at AEW Collision and make our predictions for the Royal Rumble! Derek couldn’t wait for the Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up to acknowledge the one and only, Roman Reigns. More importantly, Jenna acknowledges Derek for multiple nights with over 6 hours of sleep on the CPAP (1:17-7:30). Katy was recognized for her Baker Banter fame at school. The Kelce conversation continues, centered around Jason and his friendly antics at the Chiefs versus Bills game, which the Chiefs won of course. Valerie proposes a bet between Ellis and Derek for the AFC Championship game (7:31-14:59). Derek shined as the defensive leader of his basketball team at the Special Olympics. Jenna and Valerie detail a tough week with Mimi Warren’s house hitting the market, but she uplifted them by painting a beautiful sky one evening. We reminisce on Derek’s bravery for testing out Mocha and Josie’s electric fence collar (15:00-27:36). We had an incredible evening backstage and in the arena for AEW Collision. First of all, the catering went above and beyond expectations, especially because superstars were constantly coming in and out of the dining area. Derek met the so-called Bang Bang Scissor Gang and Ricky Starks, showed off his moves to Daniel Garcia, and so much more (27:38-36:55). We kick off the Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up with AEW recaps and work our way into the live action we saw at Collision. Seeing the Bang Bang Scissor Gang in action was a dream, and prediction, come true for Derek (37:11-53:30). Last week we talked about TNA Wrestling, and this week Derek informs us there is yet another wrestling league, this one is overseas, called New Japan Pro Wrestling. Derek feels the love between a couple of NXT Superstars. SmackDown ramps up the Royal Rumble intensity, and we watched in tandem with all of our fans on TikTok live  (53:32-1:05:07). We get a Seth Rollins injury update, and finally, Derek provides his predictions for both the Men and Women’s Royal Rumble, which we’ll be seeing live in person in Tampa Bay (1:05:08-1:14:16).

This week on Bakers Bantering, Derek and Katy display their sibling rivalry to the fullest extent. Derek’s feeling extremely ucey in the beginning of the podcast while Katy makes Ellis feel old by reminding him how close he is to 30 (0:41-2:31). We get into some extensive football commentary involving the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs are moving on after a dominating victory over the Miami Dolphins in the frozen tundra of Arrowhead Stadium, and Jenna and Katy shout out some of their favorite celebrities rocking some stellar fashion. Derek and our friend Philly Jared sadly couldn’t celebrate a victory for the Eagles after a demoralizing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2:32-22:12). Derek gives thanks to some fans on TikTok live, and thanks to Jenna after she congratulates him for multiple 4-hour nights and one 5-hour night on the CPAP (22:13-27:17). Even though Derek’s been sleeping better, this day, he woke up and chose violence. He said some things to Katy that only a brother could get away with, and she rightfully snaps back (27:18-30:04). Jenna had a winter fiasco in her “new” car and thankfully fiancé Chris saved the day. Derek and Katy continue to bicker, and Jenna shares that he had some resentment toward a Chick-Fil-A worker after a misunderstanding (30:05-39:39). Jenna explains why Spongebob wasn’t a regularly watched cartoon in the Baker household growing up, Katy reflects on her first finals experience as a teacher, and Ellis has winter car trouble of his own (39:40-48:58). The Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up is full of excitement because we’re going to AEW Collision! Derek toes the line of being “Rated R” with thoughts on Adam Copeland, the potential of the “Bang Bang Scissor Gang”, and someone being a female dog (49:11-1:00:58). The out of context inappropriateness continues with a new wrestling show Derek is watching, called TNA Wrestling (it’s not what you think) (1:01:00-1:06:19). Moving on to WWE, Jenna heard from Sportskeeda that there might be some surprise entrants in the Royal Rumble. Someone that’s not Derek has a crush on Bayley, and he shares his Royal Rumble champion predictions (1:06:20-1:23:30).

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day, let’s keep striving toward inclusivity for all! This week on Bakers Bantering, Derek outlines his big New Year’s resolution, and we provide plenty of commentary surrounding the sports and entertainment world. Derek hijacks the intro and tries to dive straight into wrestling topics, including his personal beef with Adam Cole and some big WWE predictions. Jenna obliges because she discovered there’s a big name wrestler starring in one of the shows she’s currently watching (0:39-6:22). Derek shares his big New Year’s resolution: cutting back on soda. Valerie provides some encouraging CPAP updates, which may have led to Derek and Mark (his imaginary brother) squashing their monthslong beef (6:23-19:14). Speaking of beef, Ellis’ ego is bruised when our friend Philly Jared offers up some Fantasy Football guidance. The anticipation builds toward the Kansas City Chiefs Super Wild Card Weekend playoff matchup against the Miami Dolphins, and Derek’s newly beloved Philadelphia Eagles road test against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Valerie sends her congratulations to Chris Jones (not Jenna’s fiancé) and his million dollar sack (19:15-26:50). Jenna and Chris picked out their wedding food, but the choice of dessert vendor is still up for debate. Sticking with the food conversation, Jenna gives us a Taco Bell drive-thru update thanks to Baker Banter Dad, Eric, providing some insight (26:51-36:49). Our previous episode with Rey Mysterio was quoted on a wrestling website, but they didn’t exactly cite their sources correctly. We received a heartfelt piece of fan mail from a new friend named Ben in Cincinnati. Derek, Jenna, and Valerie wish Ellis a happy birthday (36:50-45:50). Derek gives us an unconventional start to the Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up with an uncanny Jim Carrey “Grinch” impersonation. We start off the wrestling conversation with AEW reactions to some big wins, or big losses, depending on who Derek liked in the matchup (46:03-59:04). Moving on to WWE, Sportskeeda has a bold prediction for Naomi. There was apparently a change of plans for the Royal Rumble involving Roman Reigns and Randy Orton. Someone might be turning heel, Triple H “delivered” according to Derek, and much more (59:05-1:16:52).

This week on Bakers Bantering, we chatted with our good friend, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio! Katy, or should we say, Miss Baker’s first semester of teaching has almost concluded, but her students still have to take finals (Jenna and Ellis comment on the absurdity of this scheduling). Katy reflects on her triumphs, struggles, and lessons to build upon moving forward in her teaching career. She also offers some advice for prospective teachers (0:30-16:59). Ellis receives a gift from the Baker family, but also reveals his punishment for placing last in his fantasy football league. Continuing the football talk, Jenna boasts about the Mizzou Tigers becoming Cotton Bowl Champs, and of course gives Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles updates (17:02-30:47). Chris (Jenna’s fiancé, we’re still getting used to saying that) and Jenna were determined to have Taco Bell for dinner on New Year’s Day, but Jenna’s ordering process was a little obscure. Jenna gives a couple social media updates from last week regarding photographer Houston Vandergriff potentially joining on the podcast AND Dakota Kai sending a special message to Derek! (30:48-36:02). WWE LEGEND, our good friend Rey Mysterio joins the podcast and reminisces about meeting us and how impressed he was with Derek’s wrestling knowledge (36:47-42:46). Rey shares his bittersweet feelings about his son Dominik, his strategies against larger wrestlers, and his relationship with fellow masked-man Dragon Lee (42:48-52:29). Speaking of the masks, Valerie’s intrigued by their origins and Rey shouts out the makers behind them. Derek shares his predictions for Rey’s daughter, Aalyah, and asks the big question we all want to know the answer to; will he be competing in the Royal Rumble? (52:31-1:01:21). Katy tries her hand at the Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up intro and is promptly ousted by Derek and Jenna. Derek shares some AEW drama regarding those three random men we’ve been talking about. There was a BIG return on RAW Day One, and plenty of other wrestling action (1:01:30-1:23:58).

Happy New Year Baker Banter fam! On this week of Bakers Bantering, we’re showing off some of our awesome Christmas presents and taking you back through our favorite wrestling moments of 2023! Cousin Kyle joins us again and Derek shows off his new Ric Flair drip. The Chiefs lost on Christmas but Taylor Swift gifted everyone with her presence, and Chris gifted Jenna with her very own T-Swift sweatshirt AND an extremely thoughtful photograph (0:39-14:36). Jenna tries to bring up some family drama involving Derek and Kyle from the past but Derek was NOT having it. Nothing is set in stone but there are some BIG speculations in the works for 2024 for the wrestling world and Baker Banter (14:40-26:56). The Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up gets kicked off with AEW Continental Classic updates and some DRAMA in NXT (27:59-42:44). Derek, Jenna, and Valerie break down their Top 10 favorite moments from the wrestling events they’ve attended this year (spoiler alert, there were A LOT). WrestleMania in Los Angeles, Survivor Series in Chicago, SmackDown in St. Louis, and much more! We made a lot of friends, and maybe some enemies, along the way! (42:45-1:14:22).

Merry Christmas everyone, this week of Bakers Bantering is full of holiday cheer! The football conversation continues as the Chiefs get back in the win column with T-Swift in the house. Derek and [Philly] Jared’s Eagles suffer another loss after former Missouri Quarterback Drew Lock led a remarkable touchdown drive in the final minutes of Monday Night Football (1:36-8:46). Derek gives us another CPAP update, and Katy comes up with some incentives for him to keep his mask on throughout the night. Derek also confesses about something that leaves the whole family totally appalled (10:41-17:55). After a failed surprise attempt over the summer, Katy and Valerie were able to pull off the shocker for Jenna and Chris’ engagement party! There were a lot of moving parts and additional surprises involved, including some special out of town guests and Derek’s incredible speech (17:57-34:27). We got in the Christmas spirit by visiting our friends at Anheuser-Busch to see the Brewery Lights and opening up some presents from Jellysmack! (36:16-40:04). There’s a lot to cover in the Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up that gets started with Derek revealing our biggest interview guest thus far! Things heat up in AEW as Derek shares some aggressive, yet festive, commentary (40:51-56:16). There’s exciting NXT action to cover with the return of Cora Jade, and Derek thinks he knows who attacked Trick Williams (56:18-1:01:20). Randy Orton has come back to SmackDown on a mission, and Derek makes some big predictions for him and Roman Reigns. It might just be the holiday spirit, but is Derek FINALLY supporting his old friend Dominik Mysterio again? Plus our thoughts on the Liv Morgan situation and much more (1:01:24-1:25:21).

On this episode of Bakers Bantering, we recap plenty of the family happenings from the past week, including Mimi’s Celebration of Life ceremony and Derek owning up to his own mistake he made with the CPAP machine. At the ceremony, Jenna introduced her (now fiancé!) Chris to the taxidermist behind the bobcat (2:25-6:00). The Chiefs AND Eagles (Derek’s current favorite football team) continue their losing ways, but we discovered some personal connections to Taylor Swift! Derek (and Ellis) suffer another loss after finding out that beloved Selena Gomez is no longer single (6:03-15:34). Derek share’s an embarrassing story about the CPAP machine, which may have led to the reason it wasn’t working last week (15:35-21:01). Valerie was up to the task of making Mimi’s spaghetti and she came through with flying colors, but not necessarily according to Baker Banter Dad. Valerie and Derek shared kind words about Mimi Warren, and Derek managed to slip in a wrestling reference (21:03-25:35). It looks like Jenna might’ve picked out a wedding venue, and she and Katy were quite overwhelmed at a wedding expo they attended. Our friend Jared from the WWE shares a touching message with Jenna. Ellis brought in a menorah and dreidels and we said the prayers over the *electric* candles (25:37-37:03). Producer Ellis joins us on camera for the Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up! Derek breaks down the growing list of wrestlers earning points toward the AEW Intercontinental Classic (37:13-50:38). We go over NXT Deadline results, headlined by our boy Dominik Mysterio. Derek shares plenty of predictions that include Dom, the Royal Rumble, and…himself (50:41-1:20:24).

This week on Bakers Bantering, we prepare for the holiday season and recap our visit with Drew McIntyre! Derek sends some love to Valerie and appreciates her strength throughout this year. Jenna and Ellis are hyped for Mizzou getting the chance to play against Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl. In other Missouri football news, the Chiefs suffer another loss, the first time Taylor Swift saw her man Travis Kelce lose in person (0:28-9:58). Derek showed his bravery this week with the addition of the CPAP machine to his nighttime routine, which many of you probably saw on Snapchat. It’s not working properly so we’re giving it another shot next week (10:00-14:52). Jenna and Valerie checked out a wedding venue for the first time! Jenna got in the Christmas spirit with some friends at a fun pop-up bar called “Miracle”, and thought she was going to be enjoying dinner there, but had to make an unforeseen audible (15:13-18:27). Mimi Warren’s celebration of life was this weekend, so this holiday season is going to be a little different than years past. Valerie’s got some big shoes to fill in preparing Mimi Warren’s famous spaghetti and other Christmas traditions, but the family is sticking together and staying strong to ensure there is plenty of Christmas cheer to go around (18:26-31:46). Hanukkah started this week, and Ellis and Derek share some of their favorite parts about the holiday (31:48-38:47). Our TikTok was popping off this week with exciting commentary involving our boy “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio and Derek’s ideas for Triple H, plus a potential gift exchange between Derek and our friend Jared in Philadelphia (38:50-48:05). Speaking of gifts, Derek was sent a handful of wrestling goodies, as well as a copy of “For the Love of the Show” by Dr. Jeremy Housewright, which features a whole chapter about Derek and Jenna (48:06-56:11). Thanks to our friends at Cricket and The Herbert Hoover Boys and Girls Club of Greater St. Louis, we got to partner with WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre to spread holiday cheer for the “12 Days of Cricket” campaign. After the event, Derek and Drew sat down and hashed out their differences, with an apology in order, but from who? (56:14-1:15:04). Transitioning to the Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up, we start off with some big news in AEW involving a new member, seasoned veterans potentially leaving, and more points toward the Intercontinental Classic (1:15:13-1:23:44). Moving on to NXT and WWE, we met a potential superstar in the making last week, and there are a lot of badasses right now. Derek predicts Dom losing his title, and Damage CTRL might be getting some new members (1:23:46-1:38:18).

On this episode of Bakers Bantering, we recap our incredible Thanksgiving week in Chicago! With the return of Randy Orton to WWE, Derek gives us a bold prediction right out of the gates. The Missouri football dominance continues, with Mizzou and the Kansas City Chiefs notching big victories, but is Derek becoming a Philadelphia Eagles fan?! (0:45-9:54). Big shoutout to Jenna’s friend Dana and her family for inviting us to their lovely highrise with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan, and for helping us navigate the brutal Chicago traffic. AEW Dynamite was an absolute blast at Wintrust Arena, and Derek got to ring the bell. He also got to meet Superstars Adam Cole (bay bay) and Mike Santana, and watch as all of the drama of the evening unfolded (9:55-29:31). On Thanksgiving, we went to a cute Christmas market at Wrigley Field and ended the evening with some of the best burgers we’ve ever had at Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant, and got to meet some fans! (29:36-32:53). On Black Friday, we got to hangout with our good buddy Colt Cabana at the Pro Wrestling Tees store, and of course Derek was more interested in DVDs than t-shirts. We went back to Dana’s family’s place for some Lou Malnati’s, and Eric was enthralled by some fisherman out on the lake (32:55-39:52). Finally it was Survivor Series Saturday and we got to see our friends from the Belt Squad. The WarGames were INTENSE and we got to sit right by all the stuff that goes boom, thankfully we all had earplugs. Our boy Dominik Mysterio “power-pointed” at Jenna and Sami Zayn supposedly acknowledged Derek (39:55-1:03:16). We finish the wrestling packed episode with the Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up, where Derek makes more bold predictions that involve stirring the pot for our friend Rey Mysterio. Plus, CM Punk and Randy Orton return to RAW, and Derek has some interesting thoughts about what that might entail going forward (1:03:30-1:20:28).

We hope everyone had an enjoyable and fulfilling Thanksgiving! Derek gives a couple shoutouts to some good buddies, and football in the state of Missouri continues to be a hot topic as the Mizzou Tigers continue their winning ways and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch (obviously the Kelce’s and Swift’s take center stage). The anticipation builds for the family trip to Chicago that centers around AEW Dynamite and WWE Survivor Series: WarGames (0:51-12:14). We welcome our good friend Maria to the podcast and things immediately go off the rails when Derek asks about her favorite Netflix shows and what it was like being coached by Baker Banter Dad (12:30-26:05). Maria shares her first impressions of Katy, Derek, and the rest of the Bakers, and what it was like living with Katy back in the day. She also reveals her perspective from a couple of trips with the Bakers (one involved wrestling of course, the other involved a cold beach) and her plans for the future after nursing school (26:12-44:24). In the Weekly Wrestling Wrap Up, there’s a lot going on in NXT, and Derek is not pleased to say the least. Valerie still thinks Dom was the originator of making NXT cool (45:50-50:37). Switching gears, in the WWE, we recap SmackDown and Derek gives his BOLD WarGames predictions. Finally, is there a love-story developing in AEW? (50:38-1:15:45).
