Getting your heart broken can be one of the hardest things to go through, and putting yourself back in the dating game can feel impossible.  In this episode we discuss some ways to help start over again.

Dating in your late 30’s early 40’s is filled with unique challenges. Questions arise about children, about career, that are not so common when dating in your 20’s. Individuals are often more established in their daily patterns, and other lifestyle choices, which can be harder to change. Finding a potential mate is already difficult, but years of added life experience adds complexity.

Some feel that being less picky would be an answer. While others feel that experience helps to hone in more clearly on what would make for a good partner. This episode is designed to discuss and find answers to some of the common questions people face while dating in your late 30’s and 40’s. Hosts, Barbie, Steve and Nick, are joined by public speaker, author, and therapist, Kylee Sheilds.

Kylee is the author of the book “Make it Happen: A Guide to Happiness for LDS Singles.” Kylee is also ‘dating in her late 30’s and early 40’s’ like so many of our listeners. She shares her insights are well-informed, and she has an energy and passion that is contagious. Kylee also offers advice to find happiness and fulfillment wherever you are at in your dating adventures.

Don’t Wait Until You Are Perfect To Start Dating! So many people today use the excuse that they are not ready to date. Others may use excuses like “I am too fat” or “I don’t have a steady job” as reasons to not date. Where do we get these ideas? Why do we put off a chance to find happiness in a relationship?

On this podcast, our hosts discuss some of the other common reasons people wait until they are perfect to start dating. They are joined for another episode by Heidi, Nick’s wife, to get further insights on how using this crutch can keep you from finding happiness. It is common in dating, as well as in general culture of the Church, to be caught up in Perfectionism. This is the idea that one must live at a certain level to pre-qualify for inclusion in other activities or blessings. This concept is often damaging and quite random.

Bad Advertising in dating is real. Bad advertising can be anything from choosing bad pictures for your dating profiles, or it can be a classless billboard campaign to marry a millionaire. On this episode of the Barbie Does Dating Podcast we share with you some of the most extreme examples of Bad Advertising in Dating that we have come across.

Safety in Dating w/Shawn Rapier

Safety in dating is a pretty important and serious topic. So many stories have become tragic news. While we often joke around on the Barbie Does Dating Podcast, there are some subjects that are more serious, like safe dating practices.

In this episode of the podcast, we still try and have some fun, but we also recognize that there are some good tips to be safe in dating. We share some of those safe dating tips as well as some of the things that men can do to help their date feel more comfortable.

Joined again by Stand-Up Comedian Shawn Rapier from the Latter-day Lives Podcast, hosts Barbie, Steve, and Nick offer some sage wisdom on ways to stay safe while putting yourself out there in dating. Because Safety in Dating is important for all to be aware of, including when using dating apps.
