We wear perfectionism like a badge of honor. But there's a dark underbelly that comes with holding ourselves to that standard.
Let's talk about the truth behind perfectionism and, most importantly, how to take the steps so it stops controlling your health and fitness journey...and your life.
"I'll just listen to my body."
Intuitive eating sounds like a lovely idea. The problem is, at this stage in your life, you're not Gandhi, at one with nature and your deepest self.
Your body and mind, in their current states, have been trained by none other than...you.
What does that mean?
Your body will tell you what it wants. But those wants aren't needs. They're based on the cravings you've trained them to have.
If you've spent every Tuesday hittin' up the drive through, well, Monday night your body is sending you all kinds of messages telling it's time for MickeyD's. Is that eating intuitively?
There's a step between where we are right now and where we need to be to effectively eat intuitively.
Here's how to get there.
If there's one reason most people give up when it comes to fat loss, it's because of the mind game that is the scale.
We've all been there:
You crush your goals for weeks. You're rockin' your nutrition, killin' your workouts, feelin' like a bada$$. Weigh in day comes. You eagerly step onto the scale, ready to see the fruits of your labor...
...and *soul crush* the number went UP.
That's when most people quit. But not you. Because when you understand what the scale IS and ISN'T, you learn to take control.
What does it mean to label a food as "good" or "bad"?
How much "bad" food is ok?
What about foods like protein pizza...is that "good" or "bad"?
Here's what we need to know about labeling foods: what it really means, the dangers, and what to do instead.
"I start strong, then lose motivation."
"I just lack motivation."
"I have no motivation to do this."
Real talk: if you're relying on motivation to achieve your health and fitness goals, you're setting yourself up for failure. Motivation is bullsh*t. Here's what you need instead.
If your lifelong goal was to get rich, would you go about it by picking up a penny off the street each time you came across one and expect it to do the trick? Of course not. Likewise, if you want to build lean, sculpted muscles, stop following the inefficient marketing BS and do this instead.
We think that being mean to ourselves is what pushes us to be better. We think that berating ourselves is what makes us the go-getter we are.
...but this is not Truth. This is a bullsh*t limiting belief we've accepted as Truth.
Here's what our favorite teachers and coaches can show us about how to really level up.
We start. We go hard. We mess up. We quit. It's time to break to the pattern and do this once and for all. Here's how.
Every. Single. Area of your life right now is a result of the loop you're living in. The loop goes like this: Thoughts-Feelings-Actions-Results. If we truly want change to last, it begins with breaking the loop and taking control. Here's how.
There's an inner monologue that runs through your head all day every day. Many of us believe it to be Truth. The reality is, it's simply your caveman brain attempting to keep you in your comfort zone. The key to lasting change? Redefine that voice. Here's how.
