The 2008 financial crisis created both winners and losers, and we have the gift of hindsight on our side. Those who came out on top were those who were prepared. They didn't over leverage by taking on too much debt and they had equity in all of their real estate holdings. They also had some cash reserves that were ready to invest during a time when blood was on the street.
