One of the most fundamental teachings of ACIM is "I am not a body." We can get that intellectually, and still it takes great willingness to recognize this basic truth. When we do accept it fully in our heart, our experience of life changes in beautiful ways. The unconcious guilt we become identified with will be projected onto the body as a way of working with it emotionally and mentally when we're unwilling to work with it first at the level of the mind.
