Alex Heisey, also known as Angel Mama Doula, is a mother-centered postpartum doula as well as a bereavement doula. She cares for women postpartum as well as for women after loss. Her mission is that every mother knows that she deserves postpartum care whether her baby is in her arms or in her heart.

Alex serves mothers local to Central PA through postpartum home visits, while also offering virtual care to women all over, & currently facilitates mothers circles as well.

Alex has had three sweet boys with her husband Joe. Her youngest is 2, their middle is 3 and a half & their oldest, Liam would be 5 1/2 if he were here today. Her Liam Keith was born an angel & the heart behind going into this work to support mothers postpartum.

Today I am sharing my story of how I became a doula, my passion as a birth worker, and common questions I get.

If you are listening to this and interested in becoming a doula, the training I mentioned is International Doula Institute. There are many many other ones out there too. If I could do it all over again, I would probably do the Birthworker Academy because it is far more in-depth than any training I know, plus she teaches you how to run a business too (which NO OTHER doula training does!!)

Kate Sanata shares her story of how she had an unmediated hospital birth for her first. Looking back, there was a lot she wished was different but decided to go with an OB practice for her second. As she asked questions she realized she really should birth at home and was able to find a homebirth midwife who could take her. She also shares her third birth story at home as well!
