Bleav in Wizards

Osman Baig (@OBToojiveforyou) of Bullets Forever joins Matt Modderno to create three All-NBA teams from players who have played for the Wizards. We selected two guards, two forwards, and one center for each of the teams. We also built a starting five (plus a sub) from these lists that would be best equipped to compete in today's NBA. Plus, we discuss Monumental Sports purchase of NBC Sports Washington. Let us know what you think of our All-Wizards teams and who would make your list. Shoutout to listener Shawn Wehland for the idea!

Bryce Hendricks (@BryceHendrick14) of the Upside Swings Podcast (@Upsideswings) joins Matt Modderno to introduce listeners to the players to know in the 2023 NBA Draft. The Wizards owe their 2023 1st round pick to the Knicks unless the pick falls in the lottery. ESPN and Vegas both project the Wizards to end up with around 34 wins, which would likely make them a lottery team again. While we hope that doesn't happen, we are covering our bases by preparing for it. The Wizards could also trade one of their expiring contracts in return for a pick as Tommy Sheppard has seemed committed to valuing draft capital. Listen in for the names to know and more details on our t-shirt giveaway!

Wizards District Gaming (@WizardsDG) Head Coach Patrick Crossan (@PatrickCrossan_) joins Matt Modderno to discuss Wizards DG's season so far and their playoff prospects in 5v5 (they're the #2 seed) and 3v3 ( #1 seed). The team has the #1 ranked defense in the league and the highest winning % in the East and looks poised to try to win its third consecutive NBA 2K League Championship. They've managed to have great success with a balanced offensive approach and with All-Star voting about to close on 8/15, the team has 5 players who deserve to make the All-Star roster. Make sure to vote for the Wizards DG players at this link: https://2kleague.nba.com/2022allstar/

Mystics insider Wayne Cole (@waynec0le) joins Matt Modderno to update fans on this year's Mystics team and preview the WNBA playoffs. The Mystics will be matched up with the Seattle Storm in the first round so we break down that specific match-up. Wayne also provides great coverage of the Capital City Go-Go so we discuss their season, rising star head coach Mike Williams, and give the sales pitch for why basketball fans in DC should embrace that team more as well. As always, we were presented by BetOnline.Ag.

Osman Baig (@OBtoojiveforyou) of Bullets Forever joins Matt Modderno for a loaded offseason podcast. We open the show by comparing the situation and fan reaction to Juan Soto's trade with the Wizards re-signing of Bradley Beal. From there we discuss whether there's any realism to trade rumors involving Donovan Mitchell and Collin Sexton, and whether they actually make sense from a fit perspective. The addition of James Posey to the coaching staff was a smart choice and we tell you why. And then the real meat of the show is spent discussing the Top 5 Wizards' moments this century, plus some fan submissions on what should make the list. We closed the show by naming a few of our favorite unsung Wizards players from that same time period. Hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane!

Alec Jenkins (@TopShotWizard) of the District of Collectors (@DCTopShot) joins Matt Modderno to talk about NBA Top Shot and the Wizards Top Shot community. Alec is one of two Wizards Captains for NBA Top Shot so he provided great background on what Top Shot is, how it works, and how people can get involved. He explains the benefits of being a member of the District of Collectors (everything from free "moments" to cool swag to members being sent to the NBA Draft and Summer League) and just how easy it is to join. If you're at all interested in joining a Wizards fan community that specializes in celebrating some of the Wizards' better moments, this might be for you! If you're at all unfamiliar with Top Shot, hopefully this helps get you up to speed!

Kevin Broom of the #SoWizards Podcast (@So_Wizards) and Bullets Forever joined Matt Modderno to discuss the types of players the Wizards seem to value. Based on recent draft picks and the Wizards' Summer League additions, it's questionable whether the player archetypes they prioritize are actually all that valuable or effective in today's NBA. Based on that, we discuss how valuable Corey Kispert's skillset actually is and who are his closest statistical comps (aka dopplegangers). You might be surprised to find out whose statistical profile most closely mirrors his so far. We also make the case for why Corey Kispert and Deni Avdija should have played at Summer League. Plus, a discussion on Deni Avdija's development based on comments from NBA trainer Drew Hanlen and the chances of Kevin Durant ending up in DC.

Dominique Nelson (@Domo8186) of the Wizards of Gallery Place podcast joins Matt Modderno to discuss the Wizards' first three Summer League games, the lackluster play of Johnny Davis thus far, and Tommy Sheppard's comments about the importance of filling the second two-way spot. What's wrong with Johnny Davis? What's the plan for Isaiah Todd? Is Devon Dotson too small to help an NBA team? Can Vernon Carey Jr.'s game translate for the Wizards? Does anyone else on this SL roster deserve a spot on the Wizards? They answer all these questions and more! Plus, Domo and Matt talk about their Summer League highlights so far. The Wizards will play a minimum of 4 Summer League games: 7/9 vs Detroit, 7/10 vs Phoenix, 7/13 vs New Orleans, and 7/15 vs Indiana. In this episode, we break down the Wizards Summer League roster, the potential standouts, the notable omissions, and the best players they will play against on other teams. If you're at all curious about who to keep an eye in Vegas, this is the pod for you!

The Wizards gave Bradley Beal 5-years, $251 million, plus a no trade clause, a 15% trade kicker, AND a player option in year 5. Osman Baig (@OBtoojiveforyou) of Bullets Forever joins the pod to try to help make sense of it all. Spoiler alert: we failed to be able to make sense of it. We also discuss who should be the starting small forward vs who is actually likely to start.
