In this episode, we are going to talk about how to deal with intrusive harmful and violent thoughts towards a loved one or someone you know. In this episode, I am going to discuss a few case studies of people that I’ve worked with and the strategies that we implemented to help them break out of the loop of harmful and violent intrusive thoughts.
It is important to remember that intrusive thoughts are just thoughts. Sometimes these thoughts seemingly come out of nowhere and generate anxiety, but they have no intrinsic or underlying meaning. They’re not warning messages or red flags. They’re simply ‘thoughts’. So in this episode, I will also discuss what ERP looks like when you’re dealing with intrusive harmful, and violent thoughts.
I hope that this helps you on your journey to recovery.

Hey Guys,
Welcome to another episode of The OCD & Anxiety Show. In this new series, we are going to talk about dealing with intrusive thoughts.
Intrusive thoughts are unwanted thoughts that invade a person’s mind and generally cause a great deal of distress. Oftentimes intrusive thoughts will become stuck in a loop in a person’s mind. They are often centered on taboo topics around sex, violence, or religion but are not reflective of a person’s true desires. This is why they cause the person so much distress.
In this series, I’m going to discuss specific intrusive thoughts and talk about specific case studies of people who have struggled with them. I am also going to discuss how to break out of the loop on intrusive thoughts.
I know there are millions of people who struggle with intrusive thoughts and I hope this series will serve all of those who are struggling.
Enjoy the show!

In this episode, we are going to talk about the importance of identifying OCD & Anxiety as a common enemy that your family system is facing together.
I often refer to OCD as the ‘invisible enemy’ in the room. OCD is like a lens that clouds and distorts our vision. Sometimes we are so lost in the lens of OCD that we don’t even know we are lost. And when that happens we often begin to see our loved ones as the main problem, instead of the OCD. Which can lead to increased conflict and create more problems in the household.
But once we ground ourselves in the correct perspective and identify OCD as the common enemy, we can begin to use this to deepen our relationship with the person who suffers OCD. And in the same way, we can begin to work towards long-term recovery, for both the individual and the family unit.
