Brock and Salk look at ESPN's Mariners preseason projections which includes their win total, playoff odds and World Series odds. Do they agree with it? They share their thoughts. They then analyze Luis Castillo's three personal goals for the season and what he has to do to make those happen. In Blue 88, topics include where some Seahawks rank in early 2025 Defenive Player of the Year Award odds, why the Shanahan/Kubiak run scheme is so popular across the NFL and something he noticed from CBS Sports.
Salk begins the show responding to an opinion about people having the opinion that there is a double standard between fighting in hockey and fighting in other sports. After that, they re-air their conversation with Sean McDonough of ESPN to get his insight on the Four Nations tournament along with a little bit of baseball talk as well.
Is Aaron Rodgers a real option for the Rams? Adam Schefter and Colin Cowherd both floated the idea. Then, the M's players seem excited and bought in with Dan Wilson to start spring training. Are they happier with the offseason than the public? Plus, Salk crowns this week's winner of Trash Takes.
The ABS challenge system will be implemented in MLB Spring Training this year, and with it likely permanently coming to baseball in the next year or two, Brock and Salk dive in on whether this is a good idea or not. Later, they bring on Sean McDonough of ESPN who will be broadcasting the Four Nations hockey final to discuss the tournament, a little bit about the Red Sox drama and more.
Dan Wilson has had some consistent messaging early on the Mariners mindset for 2025, which revolves around 162 battles. Brock and Salk discuss how different that is from messaging in years past and if that mentality can work. They then throw out a few potential trade ideas that could still happen for the mariners, whether it be now or later down the road this season. The teams involved in these scenarios would be the Red Sox, Blue Jays and Mets. In Blue 88, Brock takes a look at the Seahawks new coaching hires, the idea of Aaron Rodgers to the Rams and another position in which the market supply may favor the Seahawks.
Salk begins the show by comparing the numbers of Donovan Solano and Justin Turner with Turner signing with the Cubs, and then ponders the idea of Triston Casas still being potentially available in a trade amidst the slight turmoil in Red Sox Spring Training. Then, they re-air their conversation with Chris Egan of KING 5 who is down in Peoria for Mariners Spring Training to get all of his takeaways so far.
